Hamsters like burrowing, therefore, 2-4 inches of bedding is okay. This keeps them warm. Cold temperatures are not good for your hamster.
An important note about Carefresh
- Carefresh natural is safe and healthy for your hamster, however, just to be safe 100% sure, when you get any Carefresh bag, freeze it for a day or two before use (of course inside the bag, you do not want it to get wet, after removing it from the freezer, you may warm it a little before placing it in the cage) or put it out in direct sunlight. You can also shake it a little away from the cage just in case there is some dust. This is just an extra safe measure for those who are extra cautious.

They are super silent, but you need to sand them down with sandpaper (they can come with a lot of splintering in the wood; this can harm your hamster). They also need waterproofing so that they don’t soak up the hamster pee or water.
